Dear Fellow Martial Art Coach,
Q. As
a martial art school owner, as a martial art trainer, how much of your
time do you spend teaching self-defense skills or competitive martial
art strategies to your clients?
Q. How often do your clients
really have to use those self-defense skills for 'real'? How much time
compared to the time you spend training clients for competition do they
actually compete?
Surely it makes far more sense as a coach, surely it makes far more
sense from a business perspective, to use martial arts to equip your
clients to engage their life more fully. To be more productive in their
career and to become champions in life. Surely it makes more sense to
use your martial art coaching to make a positive impact in your clients
life for the 23-hours a day, 166-hours a week they are not with you?
There is a new movement underfoot in the martial arts world and CMD is
leading the way in its innovation and implementation. This movement is
martial arts as a life-performance coaching vehicle. Its about using
martial arts to drive meaning in our client’s lives. To give them tools
that will help them become champions on and off the mat.
For the past decade many martial art pioneers have sought out the most
practical and functional applications of martial skill. Transcending
just blindly following martial tradition, the rise of many reality
based self defense systems and the advent of mixed martial arts- have
conclusively set the record straight on what is needed for a person to
defend oneself effectively and what is required to be a combat athlete
in the truest sense.
If you are reading this you may be one of these pioneering martial art
instructors. You may currently be teaching a functional approach to
self-defense or you may be molding the next athletic warriors for mixed
martial arts competition. We don’t want you to change this; in fact we
encourage you to continue.
However it is our
contention at the CMD Trainers Programme that while both these pursuits
of self-defense and competitive prowess are noble paths- it neglects
the reality that people in both these schools of martial thought, are
seeking for meaning in their life.
Q. What happens once your students feel confident in their ability to defend themselves?
What happens when your MMA athletes have tasted victory in the ring?
What next?
Where do you as their coach, trainer and mentor, going to now be able to offer them?
Where do you take them next on their martial art journey?
CMD is your solution. CMD is a complete martial art program. We coach a
functional, dynamic self-defense program taught not only to the every
day guy and girl, but also used by Special Force Military and Policing
Units. CMD has had numerous successes in martial art competitions- from
MMA, Muay Thai and Western boxing to name a few. In fact within the
ranks of the CMD Trainers Team there are several active competitors and
world champions.
But by far the single most important part of the CMD program is how we
actively use martial arts as a vehicle to help all our clients become
champions not only in the ring or self-defense, but also in their life
and career.
When you join the CMD Trainers Programme and Team, you join a new breed
of martial art coach. Not only will you still be able to coach your
clients in self-defense and combat athletic proficiency- but more
importantly you will become an asset to your client’s life. You will
become indispensable to your clients, because what you coach them will
not only give them martial skills when they need it, but will help them
perform at their best in their life and career.
Simply you will help your client become a champion, not only on the mat but also in their life and career as well.
At the CMD we firmly believe that we have succeeded in this mission,
the praise for the CMD Trainers Programme below is a testament to this.
Join our Team today and start making
a difference in your clients life, not only in the 2 hours a week they
train with you, but the other 23 hours of every day.

I
have been working personaly with Rodney for many years, however from
the moment when he created the coaches programme, I finally started to
see a deep message which came across. Personal development with CMD's
life approach, is totaly unique and an innovative system which
separates us from rest. As a professional coach, I still want to get
cutting edge training, however 'coaching' is totaly different animal
than personal skill development. CM's-Life approach coaching fits
perfectly here. Added to this world class coaching information,
training systems, clients asessments,..etc, and you have a whole
package on an elite level, which you cannot get anywhere else.

The
Crazy Monkey Defense Program, in addition to being one of the finest
Martial Arts programs available, is also one of the most exciting and
innovative coaching programs in the Martial Arts. While most instructor
certifications are based on the individual’s ability as a Martial
Artist, the CMDP program spends as much, if not more, time on
developing coaching abilities and creating the training environment
that true learning can take place. It is Rodney’s commitment to
innovation and growth that makes the CMDP more than buying a training
course, it is a lifelong pursuit to become better coaches, Martial
Artists and citizens of the world.

I
met Rodney while attending a martial arts camp more than five years ago
in Portland, USA. My initial impression of him was "this guy has got to
be the best boxing coach in the world." Soon I learned that I was
completely wrong! Rodney is far more than that, he is an innovator, and
a creator his abilities as a coach reach far beyond just instruction in
martial arts. Rodney has the unique and rare ability to apply what he
coaches to positively impact all aspects of your life. In training with
Rodney through the years the learning never ends the growth never stops
and the fun keeps coming.

In
my twenty-eight year martial arts journey, I have trained with and been
associated with a number of instructors and organizations. NOT ONE has
made the impact on my life or personal performance that the CM
Trainer's program has. Not only is the training cutting edge
functional, it is also backed with a rock solid set of ethics and
professional standards beyond anything else in the martial arts world,
as well as a support structure second to none. When you become a CM
trainer, you receive a real effort to make you the best coach you and
your clients will ever need. But what really continues to impress me is
the constant effort on Rodney's part to make sure the program is always
evolving to become even better. It was one of the best decisions I ever
made when I decided to join. I haven't regretted it for a moment.

I
thought that being deployed would pretty much stunt any growth in my
training, but I was wrong. Particularly with the trainer's program,
Rodney has gone out of his way in many respects with me personally to
help me with my own personal game. Voice-over commentary on videos of
my training, personal coaching talks on the phone, suggested reading
lists, and in general taking into account my current situation. I am
very grateful I received this opportunity to be coached by him. He's a
genuine person, and highly motivating.

The
best and easiest method to build a foundation for effectively teaching
martial arts. In my experience, it benefits everyone from working
professionals to professional fighters. The program is both fun for
clients and teaches functional fighting skills.
The Crazy
Monkey program helped me find myself as a coach and trainer. I have
gained confidence in my coaching and am assured I am providing high
quality instruction to my clients.

I
just have to say that Rodney's insite on the martial arts and on life
have changed the way I see everything. If I were to rate on a scale of
1 to 10 how my life has changes (Not just martial arts-but everywhere)
I'd have to say I'm at an 11 now- thanks to CMD and Rodney. Thanks
bunches coach!

Training
with Rodney is like a breath of fresh air. He is constantly looking
for new innovations and opportunities for development; both for you and
your training group. I have found him generous with his time and
ideas, and quick to respond to the needs of his friends and clients.
Rodney has exposed me to ideas and skills that have allowed me to
realise possibilities I wasn't even aware of before, and I have seen
the benefit at both work and play.

Brilliant
– Inspiring – Motivating – Unique - Grounded, these are some of the
words I would use to describe Rodney and his Trainer in Training
program for the CMDP, since joining the TnT program I have since moved
into the wellness industry full time, and I am loving every minute of
it. I would also say it has been a truly Positive Life Experience.

The
Trainers program for me has been a breath of fresh air, it has took a
lot of years to actually stumble onto a program that caters for all my
needs as a coach and a trainer and addresses all the issues related to
coach. Since becoming a CMDP trainer my martial arts as wel as my mind
set has developed at an enormous rate for the better in personal game
and information overload with the wealth of knowledge that is
available.
The words that stick in my head from the yearly
clinics so far are as follows "I don't want you to be good coaches, I
want you to be great coaches"
I feel that Rodney has lived up to this and I am a 1000 times a better coach than when I joined the program.

The
CMD Trainers Program is unlike anything in the industry. I am
constantly amazed by the depth of this well of resources. Not only from
the Member Site but from each and every trainer on the staff as well
as Rodney himself. It's more than just joining a group for the sake
of following the leader. It's about having the opportunity to take an
active part in changing the way martial arts are trained, taught, and
experienced.

Initially
I joined the CM Trainers program to enhance my physical skills. Little
did i know it would enhance my Life, providing the skills to maintain a
fruitful, healthy one using the medium of martial arts. I wanted to
improve my standup, and that I did, through the fine, simple details of
the CMD program.I also improved my attention to details at work, in my
relationship and in decision making. Martial arts, from the scope of
the masses is synonamous with dominating another human being and
kicking sombody's ass. To me, now, Martial arts apart from obtaining
skills to defend one's own self, is about overcoming whatever
negatively impacts your life, be it external troubles or internal
struggles and enhancing what is already positive. I got G.A.M.E now,
thanks to the CMD Program!

Opportunity and inspiration. That's what I get everyday on the CMDP Trainers Programme.
Having the chance to revolutionize my own game, dramatically improve
the coaching I offer and build a training environment that suits me, as
much as the people who train with me, all contributes to me being
completely engaged in my coaching at a time when many of my old
training partners have given up altogether.
I have had the opportunity to coach and train around the world, working
with people who, as other CM trainers, or clients, have inspired me to
push myself further than I could have imagined. None more than Rodney,
who, as the creative force behind CM, drives the programme to become
way more than just martial arts. I'm proud to call him my coach and
friend.

I've
been an ardent supporter of the CMD Program since its inception in 2004
and have been there at all its stages of growth and development. I've
excitedly implemented the classes and coaching methods, philosophies
and techniques over the years with great success. My personal
experience with Mr. King has been positive, he provides online support,
answers all phone calls and gets me and my group involved in the Annual
CMD Retreat. It's refreshing and unique to experience how martial arts
can be used to improve one self in more ways than just the physical.
Mr. King is a 3-P coach (psychology, physical and pretty damned great
coach).

I
have been practicing and competing in the Martial Arts for over 30
years. There always seemed to be a disconnect between what I thought
was logical and practical and what I was being taught and asked to
practice. Rodney through the CMDP has bridged that gap. Although I
recognized that there was a need for simple, realistic training
methods, the CMDP opened me to the tools and methods to make my
training and coaching real. I now experience how Martial Art's
training truly is a vehicle for improving my life, the lives of my
loved ones and the lives of my clients.

Many
lessons have been learnt and I still continue to learn on a regular
basis. I feel that I have developed mental and emotional strength an
spiritual awakening and continue to do so as part of my destined path.
From the insightful messages on how and why we need to focus on the
present to helping me realise whatever I wish to become is possible.
That change comes from within yourself, and that takes strength and
courage. And to not attach emotion especially when making a decision,
and most importantly that I do not allow my actions to reflect or
dispaly any anger. When making important decisions in life personal and
career, I received advice, guidance and support. I often feel that not
only have I developed a relationship with Rodney as coach and client
but also developed a friendship.

I
was first fascinated with Rodney when I first watched his Street Boxing
video series. That was like Wow!! I want those skills. so when I knew
he was coming to Singapore to teach, I had to learn from this guy. It's
been 7 years now since I met him in 2001, I am glad that I decided to
learn from him. He's my Coach and has been helping me with my
development as well as my martial arts skills. I have been doing
functional martial arts for 22 years, so I know when a see the real
deal. What I like about him is that he has helped me to transform my
self to transcend martial arts into a tool that I can use to succeed in
my life and my business. He's very good at his fighting ability as well
as his coaching ability.
