bjj_sa"Jiu Jitsu is a very simple thing. It is the people who complicate it." -Professor Rigan Machado

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu today is a worldwide phenomenon. Rising out of obscurity in the early part of the 20th century it has become one of the most widely practiced martial arts today. BJJ is recognized by its groundwork. Similar to wrestling and Judo, with it's objective to control the opponent on the ground.

While we recognize BJJ’s effectiveness for self-defense training and that many people pursue it's competitive path- our main focus is on the health aspect of the art.

Rodney King, a BJJ Black Belt under world renowned BJJ Master Rigan Machado, coaches BJJ for somatic health, wellness and fitness. You will not find people trying to show everyone how tough or good they think they are by dominating and beating you on our mat.

Our BJJ classes are still performance based, we roll and we still train for self-defense. More importantly though our BJJ program is about PLAY and it is first and foremost about having a great time while really learning something positive about your self and your body.

BJJ is a fantastic all round workout.  Rodney has used his qualification and experience in Somatic Education to bring about a new perspective to BJJ as a movement art (CLICK HERE to find out more about the Somatic disciplines).

Here are only a few of its many somatic health, wellness and fitness benefits:
